Need peanut butter and margarine, pine cones, popsicle sticks to spread the mixture. NOTICE: some children are allergic to Peanuts and peanut butter this is why we ask every child's parent to fill out a registration with the proper medical info and sign it. It also is a release.

Time Required: 20 minutes
Here's How:
- Find a large pine cone.
- Tie a three to four foot piece of yarn around the top of the pine cone for the hanger.
- Mix two tablespoons of peanut butter with two tablespoons of margarine.
- Spread the peanut butter and margarine mixture onto the pine cone.
- Pour some bird seed onto a plate or shallow dish and roll the pine cone in it.
- Place the seed-covered pine cones in the freezer for about an hour or until it is firm.
- Hang it outside in a tree!
Tips:
- Hang your pine cone at the end of a smaller branch so squirrels don't get it.
- Work with the bird seed over newspaper to help make clean up time easier.

Need: 1 cup Flour 1/2 cup Cold Coffee 1 cup Coffee Grounds (used) 1/2 cup salt Collect: Twigs Leaves Shells Tiny bones or items children collect outside on their hike.
What To Do:
First, have the kids go outside and search for treasures to make into their Fossils. Good things to use are twigs, leaves, shells, tiny bones, hard-shelled bugs.
Next, measure all ingredients and put into a bowl. Stir well. If the mixture seems a little too moist (it should resemble a dlough consistency), add a little more flour. Knead until smooth.
Work the dough into smooth balls and then flatten on a piece of waxed paper.
Press objects into the clay, using one or more of the collected items. Remind kids to share. Allow all fossils to dry thoroughly before removing from the waxed paper.
These are fun fossils for kids to display on a dresser or shelf.
What You Need:
1 cup of used coffee grounds 1/2 cup of cold coffee 1 cup of flour 1/2 cup of salt Wax paper Mixing bowl Some small objects to make impressions in the dough Empty can or a butter knife Toothpicks, optional String to hang your fossil, optional
How To Make It
Stir the together the coffee grounds, cold coffee, flour, and salt until well mixed.
Knead the dough together and then flatten it out onto the waxed paper.
Use the can to cut out circles of the dough or use the dull knife to cut slabs large enough to fit your "fossil" objects.
Press your objects firmly into the dough. When you take the object out, you have your "fossil". If you want to hang the fossil, poke holes into the edge to hold the string.
Let the fossil dry overnight and then hang it if you wish.

Nail Cross Craft DAY 3 Hike to Calvary to meet the Roman Soldier who talks about the Crucifixion. This craft is the main craft of the day.
[I recommend that you purchase the kits from Oriental Trading the cost is
It will cost you more to get the materials and craft them yourself. Below is the instructions if you choose that way to go.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
- Nails
- Wire
- Wire cutter
- Glue [ Solder] This is only if adults finish this project
- Soldering iron
- Cord
- Scissors
-
Step 1
Get two hand cut nails and some bare copper wire, such as the wire linked to in Resources below. Use colored magnet wire if you prefer.
-
Step 2
Hold two nails together in a cross shape. Wrap a piece of wire diagonally across the wires, then under the top one, then diagonally across the other way and under the bottom one. Finally, cut the wire and twist the ends together.
-
Step 3
Wrap another piece of wire several times around the head of one of the nails, then make a loop and twist the ends together.
-
Step 4
Consider soldering the wire to strengthen it. Hold the soldering iron to the nails and wire in the back of the cross at the point where they join. Touch the solder to the hot nails and wire. Once the solder smokes and settles around the join, remove the soldering iron. Repeat at the top of the cross to reinforce the loop.
-
Step 5
Add any decorative wire wrappings you want to put on the necklace. You can twist wire around both the sides and bottom of the cross for decorative effect if you wish.
-
Step 6
Cut a length of cord through the necklace. String it through the wire loop and tie it to itself. |
